INTERIOR CAMERA
The project “With a pair of ordinary shoes” is a part of a research journey that flows between the ordinary and the potentiality of creative doing. The focus is on the meaning of inhabit in contemporary society, and the different points of view: objective and subjective, collective and individual. It marks a point of transition between the script project "With a pair of common shoes" and the visual project "Interior camera". In the paintings, the relationship between quotidian and extra-quotidian is created by a deconstruction and reorganisation of the urban spaces where humans live and work. Each image is a frame, the sequence of these compose a narrative in which the space and the objects reveal the actions and aspirations of a hypothetical tenant of these spaces who ask: "where is my home?". In this case the focus is directly on the inhabit: through the creation and the sequential change of one space, outlining the possible relationship of the inhabitant of the place painted. Pictures of this room are shown as projected on a TV, maybe a video surveillance, perhaps a mental picture of who inhabits this space as an interior camera. To paint move a kind of thinking and direct action with the matter of color that other tools do not allow. It creates a relationship between the eye and the mediated reality you want to create on the pictorial support. We decided to give shape to the objects that are not the image of a specific object, not even a generic object, but rather that they had the basic features to be recognized for the function they have. There isn't a mimetic relationship with things but phenomenological. We had the desire to create images that were clearly painting and not the illusion of reality. Introducing the works in the domestic space, we found that the objects painted blend with the real space. You create a relationship between three-dimensional objects of ordinary objects and two-dimensional object of painting. |
