Tentativo di Dubbio_capitolo 2 Tentativo di Dubbio_Capitolo 2 is the exhibition outcome of the residence that Didymos carried out during the summer 2018 at Nelumbo Open Space. The announcement asked artists and collectives for a proposal that would alternate opportunities for meeting with the public and autonomous moments of work: the answer that Giulia Vannucci and Alessia Certo produced provided for the deepening of an already established practice, Tentativo di Dubbio, which it opens up to the other before being resolved and which therefore assumes the risk of being questioned, of being deeply contaminated and modified in the context of this meeting or of not being understood and therefore summarily enjoyed. Tentativo di Dubbio is a way of research and analysis, a method based on failure as a thesis and on doubt as a premise, within which a series of materials carefully selected for their physical and phenomenological characteristics are handled expertly, tested and used in order to produce usable devices. The unsuccessful outcome of the action carried out on these devices puts into shape a series of fragile and ductile installations, in which the compositional punctuality and the unpredictable will of self-determination of each element coexist in a relationship of listening and mutual influence. In the case of Tentativo di Dubbio_ Capitolo2 the circuit of relationships extends, including the Nelumbo space, very far from the neutrality of the white cube and characterized by a significant structure that often makes one think of a before, an now and an after, and includes a dense dialogue with the participants in the two workshops organized on the occasion of the residence. The energy that these exchanges produced is articulated on the long table that occupies the first room, in an attempt to linear development of the process which will still be unsuccessful, but essential for the production of a mental state necessary to face the second room. Here, that same energy materializes in the physical force that supports and anchors the otherwise fragile and almost dematerialized installations to the ground, the use of which requires an active listening disposition, similar in intensity to that which Didymos has applied daily in the development of Tentativo di Dubbio. It is therefore necessary to convert, in the passage through the corridor, one's disposition to passive contemplation and the expectations that we commonly have towards the device exhibition, in a state of fluid oscillation between the tension of doing and abandonment to listening, in a formula that combines conscious presence and methodical detachment from one's ego. To those who succeed in the venture, Tentativo di Dubbio will reveal its creative and curative potential, the immense irreplaceable value of constant and repeated work that does not manifest itself in the satisfying form, but in the production of a new energy state for the ecosystem that welcomes. |
